Human–autonomous teams on the plant floor
- HAT
- Industrial
Industrial environments punish brittle handoffs. Noise, PPE, shift changes, and legacy HMIs all shape whether an autonomous teammate feels like support or another alarm source.
Design questions I keep returning to: What does the agent make visible about its intent? How does a worker reclaim control without a modal maze? How do we measure team performance when the “team” spans a person and a machine that never clocks out?
The interesting failures are rarely pure software bugs — they are mismatches between agent pacing and human attention.
